Neo Angelique playlog pt. 10

When we last left off, Rene was pretending to be in his twilight years and wheezing his way through a 36-part history of the universe.

Anyhow, Rene has three possible topics of conversation to plough in his lecture, and I was going to choose all three to check for keywords and then reset and tell Boy Wonder to shove it if none appeared, but Rene's information proved to be genuinely enlightening. In Things the English Fandom Didn't Yet Know about Arcadia, I Don't Think: 1) Arcadia used to be in another dimension before it got shuttled off to this one; 2) Erebus is responsible, the big move being his last, vindictive blast before he was initially defeated and sealed away by an Unknown Power; 3) like its Unhatched Queen, Arcadia is an Unhatched Universe, truly to come into its own only when the Queen appears.

After wrapping up, Rene called Dion - Dion, hey! - over to escort us out. When Ange got to ask one final question, I had her posit that maybe she should've joined the Knights of the Silver Tree (accompanied by a stony glare), whereupon Rene brushed it off with a ha ha, no, you're fulfilling your destined role in your own special way, girlscan'tbeknightsdon'tberidiculous.

Anyhow, subsequent to that, I took Hyuga out for fresh air to fulfill three humdrum missions. (One of them involved a group of college students who were skipping classes on account of Thanatos-induced wind. And to think it takes several inches of snow up here for them even to consider delaying the start of class.) After the end of one of them, we got the chance in the post-mission date to visit that tower at which Hyuga encounters Carlisle's ghost in Abyss, and he was suitably silent while we were there.

Since the TV program does seem to have followed the game in this part of Hyuga's storyline, I wanted to see if I indeed could bring him into the Celestizam, or if he'd stay outside, as in the anime. (One of Hyuga's Bingo Talk keywords appears only when he "has a reunion with an old friend in the Celestizam," which hints that he can indeed enter the city.) This only, though, triggered a cutscene where Rene "accidentally" runs into Ange in the inner city (in full Head of the Order regalia; he doesn't have the green tunic here). I told Rene repeatedly to shove off, which I feel kind of bad about it now, but hey, you started it, kid jerk. Hyuga waited outside the city gates, but I don't know whether this was unique to his situation or a one-time requirement of the Rene encounter.

Oh, yeah - there was a dinner party to celebrate the Celestizam opening its gates, at which J.D. cooked the main meal (the options being all vegetarian dishes) and Ange made carrot cake to accompany it. There were other options the game said would fit better, but I thought this would better honor J.D.'s vegetarian compulsions. Everyone was ridiculously happy during the party, for some reason. Later, there was an event where Rayne wouldn't come to dinner the next evening due to preoccupation with the Walden Times artifact contest, so Ange brought some food to his room. Rayne started in on how he'd almost cracked the cube and that its contents had something to do with "interdimensional travel," but he demurred from discussing it further, saying that I "probably wouldn't understand." And you gave me the first copy of your latest book-long thesis, you intellectual snob! (OK, Ange said she couldn't understand a word of it, but still.)

But! During a chat session with J.D., I brought up the topic of sacrea, and he mentioned that he always felt a strong affinity with the sacrea of Green. The Sacrea keyword, then, seems to be a mechanic to discover each Aube Hunter's sacrea affiliation, which I find delightful, as [livejournal.com profile] angemedia and I have speculated about this in the past. I haven't gotten the chance to ask Hyuga and Rayne their affiliations yet, though; too many events.

Nyx's garden sprouted; that made the poor guy happy. Later on, Nyx stayed to help me clean up the kitchen after a cooking session, upon which Rayne stormed huffily in and accused Nyx in so many words of being a smooth operator. Rayne & Nyx are at each other's throats just like Rayne fans and Nyx fans, aren't they?

Rayne Engrish Watch: "noo komento" (no comment), "kabaa suru" (to cover, as in a subject), "handogan" (handgun), "kiiwaado" (keyword), and "sankyuu" x 2. But the real story is the Ange Engrish Watch, where Ange used "repaatorii" (repertoire), "sukoppu" (spade/hand trowel), and "ootomiiru" (oatmeal). Perhaps not Engrish strictly-speaking (and maybe "kabaa suru" and "handogan" really aren't, either; just katakana words), but she certainly had me running to WWWJDIC, so I think it's safe to say that Engrish fever is catching.
