All right, I've started Silent Hill 3. Apparently, Run Button has an LP of this scheduled for mid-October, and I'd like to keep up with it, so let's knock this game out.
Silent Hill 3 was actually the first Silent Hill game I attempted to play. I usually begin with the first installment when I start a new series, but the original Silent Hill was available only for the Playstation at the time of my initial interest, and I didn't then have, or want, a PS1 (or PS2). The subsequent Silent Hills were available for the PC, but for some reason, I went for Silent Hill 3 over 2 - I don't know if I knew at the time that 3 was more connected to the series' overarching story, or if I'd just seen more of 3 and was intrigued by it and Heather. (Probably the latter, looking back.) I bought a boxed PC copy from my local game shop, but when I tried it out, I discovered that some sort of incompatibility issue - with the graphics card, I think; I'd checked every other damn spec - was preventing it from functioning.
The weird thing is that even though I know I bought this copy before I moved - meaning that it's packed away in a storage unit - I recently found an old PC copy of Silent Hill 3 in my current residence. Apparently, I've purchased two useless copies of Silent Hill 3, and my PS2 disc marks the third time I've bought this game. Well, at least I'm good for soundtracks.
All right, spoilers ahead, including early discussion of the big spoiler concerning Heather, the one of which you're probably already aware.
